We bought it in August of 2022.

The latest update below is at 569 days...

All done

Time to build the front-of-the house stairwell.

First, cut a hole in the second floor, and frame it with super strong LVL beams.

Next step is to carefully cut out the upstairs flooring and save it.

Augie and Gerry installing temporary safety rails

The village required us to submit a drawing showing the location and details for the main stairs.

It's not just hammers and nails. Some of my work involves calculating things. Here is the plan for sizing the heating system ductwork.

Today was a BIG day. we received the approval of the plumbing work.

We are closing in on the last of the siding installation.

We had some good weather so we called in Alex and his crew to clean up some brush in the back yard.

2/12/24

A lot of activity here today. Gerry the carpenter is trimming the sections of the original siding that we had removed and saved. He will be using it to complete the exterior.

2/12/24

Plumbers Chris and Joe are completing the rough-in for all three levels- basement, firswt and second floors.

2/12/24

Roofer Raul is putting flashing on the roof penetrations made by Chris for the plumbing vent stacks.

2/12/24

A lot of vehicles parked here. Looks like a construction site...😁

Augie Jr. is hard at work in the snow and cold applying siding to the back side of the house.

Augie Jr. on the ladder completing the last of the new siding boards below the original siding that we did not replace.

Because this house was built using balloon construction, we need to add fire blocking between the floors.

This is the chimney which was added in 1954 with the kitchen addition. Note the metal stove pipe cover painted red on the side. This is where a stove pipe formerly connected to the chimney.

It's fun to discover things that were done seventy years ago.

Look closely to see the worker's notes written on the plaster.
